The amount of non-dialogue scenes that pack so much atmosphere and emotion is simply amazing. Cillian Murphy is absolutely incredible in this film, as I expected him to be. But the emotions he shows in this film and the way he carries himself with his body language and facial expressions are absolutely amazing. He is truly one of the best actors of this generation. Emily Watson is a great motherly mother. The tension she brings to every scene is fantastic. It really shows how horrible some nuns were in their time. The total running time of this film was 1 hour and 45 minutes. It felt even longer because I was deeply immersed in it. Both the music and the cinematography were so simple, yet so effective. Both really added to the film and just added the finishing touch it needed. Overall, this film was absolutely incredible and very enjoyable to watch. I would love to see more films like this in the future. It was also great to learn more about my country’s history, even if it was its dark side."If you want to get ahead in life, there are things you have to ignore in order to get ahead." Eileen Furlong.
